Behind the crossing sign
A railway crossing sign and bell stand in front of coloured glass bottles. A photograph by Lu Heng.

The white boards meet in a large X beneath a dark bell. Their black letters are easy to read, even with so much going on behind them.
Then the blue and green bottles come into view, hanging among branches and other objects. A sign that usually directs attention toward a crossing becomes a place to stop and look around.
