A small island in a wide view
A small rocky island sits toward the lower left. Mountains recede across the water beneath grey clouds and a thin pink horizon. Photography by Lu Heng.

A small dark island lies well below the horizon and to the left. Beyond it, grey-blue water reaches toward a distant shoreline. The mountains on the right fade into bands of cloud; a narrow pink strip of light runs between sea and sky.
The island is compact enough to hold the eye, while almost everything around it stretches sideways. Looking from that dark shape to the far shore lets the distance unfold in stages.
