A boat beneath a word
A white boat on turquoise water shares the frame with the word “Love” and a printed sentence. Photography by Lu Heng.

The boat occupies only a small part of the water. Seen from above, its white hull and brown stern are sharply outlined, with bright reflections scattered across the upper part of the frame.
The word “Love” and the sentence beneath it are part of the image. The sentence speaks about choosing a life partner; the boat gives those words a stretch of open water to sit beside. The eye moves between reading and looking.
