The edge of a feather
One brown feather brings its fine edges into focus against green and blue. Photography by Lu Heng.

A pale shaft carries the feather diagonally through the picture. Along one edge, the fine strands remain close together; along the other, small gaps let the background show through.
The tip bends and splits into a few loose ends. With the surroundings out of focus, those uneven edges become the part worth looking at closely.
