On Why the Internet Is Colorless: Because Efficiency Is Colorless

Why does an efficient network care nothing about who you are?

For Lu Heng, cooperation should be judged by what people contribute, not the labels attached to them. The shared task is to make information flow.

At the end of the day, efficiency and incentives always win. Not because people are good, but because systems select what survives.

In the past, race, color, and “one of us” status often won. Those stories were useful. They gave cover for taking value without accountability, and they reduced guilt by turning robbery into “virtue.” It was not morality. It was a business model.

But the world is changing for the better. We no longer need robbery as the engine of growth.

The Information Age rewards equality, not because of kindness, but because equality is efficient. It treats people as intelligent beings, not as labels. Every discrimination, every division, every forced identity line is a tax on intelligence. It blocks talent. It blocks cooperation. It blocks the efficiency of information flow.

And in the age of information, money only flows when information does.

In Internet infrastructure, the highest-efficiency capitalism is color-blind by necessity. Packets do not care who you are. Networks do not care what story you tell. Capital does not care where you were born. If a story reduces efficiency, increases cost, or blocks value creation, it gets removed.

That is why identity politics and geopolitical theater eventually fail in this field.

China vs America. Africa vs Europe. “Local” vs “foreign.” All of these narratives try to replace incentives with emotion. They try to control capital by guilt and fear. They work for a while, but they cannot beat math.

Because money flows to what builds. Efficiency flows to what works. And the system that benefits the real players—ISPs, cloud providers, networks, operators—will win, because they are the ones who carry the load.

In infrastructure, the winner is the model that reduces friction, expands connectivity, improves reliability, and pays the people who actually run the Internet.

Everything else is noise.

So the direction is clear: build systems that align incentives, reward contribution, and remove the fake divisions that block value creation.

Some narratives about me are pure noise—‘colonize Africa,’ ‘Chinese agent,’ and similar labels. They appear when people can’t engage with incentives and outcomes, so they switch to identity and motive. When the argument is weak, the target becomes the person instead of the system.

But I am colorless, just as my business is colorless.

I embrace the highest level of equality not only as a moral principle, but because it is the definition of my work and what I believe in: the free flow of information, the alignment of incentives, and the building of infrastructure that serves everyone.

My mouth is where my money is.

If someone claims otherwise, they do not understand my position—and they do not understand where my money comes from. My money comes from networks choosing efficiency. From operators choosing value. From reality selecting what works.

Let the losers chase labels.

Winners will build.

Efficiency wins.

Incentives win.

Always.
