A footprint, a few shells
A footprint and a small cluster of shells interrupt the fine pattern of the sand. Photography by Lu Heng.

The footprint enters from the lower left. Near the toes, a few shells make a small gathering of pale curves and pink surfaces. Their shadows point across the closely patterned sand.
There is no horizon here. A whole beach has narrowed to the space beside one foot: enough room for the eye to move from an impression to something solid.
