Water through the rock
A low dark rock arch opens onto blue water. Turquoise waves and white foam fill the foreground beneath a pale, clouded sky. Photography by Lu Heng.

At first the rock reads as a dark horizontal band. Then the opening appears, with another patch of blue water inside it. White foam gathers along the base while a turquoise wave crosses the foreground.
The arch gives the eye a way through the rock. The sea is both in front of the barrier and visible beyond it; the small opening keeps the two parts of the view connected.
