The ship stays, the light crosses
Broken sections of a ship form dark shapes near the shore beneath a low sun. Reflected light runs across the waves and wet sand toward the camera. Photography by Lu Heng.

Dark sections of the ship lie across the nearshore water. Their tilted upper edges interrupt the low sun and the lighter sky. In front of them, the waves reach a beach marked by footprints.
A bright reflection crosses the water and wet sand toward the camera. The ship holds the eye across the frame; the light draws it back toward where we are standing. Both directions remain visible at once.
