A small flame, a clock face
A clock face on a gold-coloured lighter brings a small detail into view beneath the flame. Photography by Lu Heng.

The open lid leans to the left, catching the same warm light as the body of the lighter. Above it, the flame narrows to a bright tip. Behind it, the distant lights have become soft circles of blue, green and white.
There is a clock face on the front. Its tiny hands and numerals give the eye somewhere to linger after the brightness of the flame.
