Helicopter over the Everest Region

A helicopter crosses a clear blue sky before a line of jagged, snow-covered Himalayan peaks, with the bright sun suspended above the aircraft.

A helicopter flies in front of jagged snowy mountains beneath a bright sun in a clear blue sky.

A helicopter flies before a range of jagged, snow-covered mountains in the Everest region. The aircraft is small against the breadth of the landscape, while a bright sun and clear blue sky sharpen the contrast between dark rock and white snow.

Seen from the air, successive ridges and valleys overlap across the frame. The elevated viewpoint makes the scale of the mountains immediately apparent, yet their distance and height remain difficult to measure.

The photograph holds technology and terrain in a careful tension. The helicopter provides movement and scale, but the mountains remain dominant: immense, sharply defined and extending beyond the immediate view.

This is not a record of a particular operator, route or landing place. Its subject is the fleeting sight of an aircraft crossing a high mountain landscape and the altered sense of scale that such a viewpoint provides.
