Through the lens of sunset

This photo take a quiet and thoughtful sunset. Eyeglasses are held up to the warm evening sky and used to frame the setting sun within one of its lenses. The gold glow of the sun light filters through the glasses casting soft patterns and little marks over its surface. These little details help convey a sense of the image being something real and very close, as if the glasses have stories to tell regarding their everyday use or memories.
The sky is gold and orange, tinted a soft brownish pale color as it slowly expands across the horizon. In contrast to this warm glow, the dark frame of the glasses is strongly contrasted, firm and sharp. The black shape is darker than anything else in the photo, and it contrasts against the soft colors behind it, so that when viewing the image the viewer looks first at this darkness and then slowly focuses in to find this light.
There’s a quality to the photo that makes people think these glasses do more than just frame the sunset — they alter how we view it. The world beyond the glass is now brighter and crisper than it should be, the rest of the scene blooming in haze. It feels like a reminder that sometimes, the beauty we notice is a function of our perspective. The tone and feeling of the image is solemn, meditative. There is no hurry or noise in the scene of this photo. It demonstrates how a simple pair of glasses can change the way people look at the world.
